Big Shark
Description
Big Shark is a fish-eating game built on the oldest rule of the ocean: eat or be eaten. You start as a small shark in a big sea, and everything swimming around you is either lunch or a very serious problem. Smaller fish are food that helps you grow, bigger fish are the end of your run if they catch you, and telling the difference quickly is the whole game.
The controls could not be simpler. Tap or click the screen to guide your shark through the water, steering it toward anything small enough to eat and away from anything large enough to eat you. That is all there is to learn, which means you are playing within seconds, but staying alive is another matter entirely.
Growth is the engine of the game. Eat enough food and your shark gets bigger, which changes everything: fish that were untouchable a moment ago suddenly become snacks, and the food chain reshuffles itself around you. Each level pushes you further into the ocean, where new animals show up. The roster is impressive for a game this simple, with pufferfish, rays, swordfish, whales, orcas, sunfish, whale sharks and even electric eels waiting to be discovered, or to discover you.
A few habits will keep you swimming longer. Stay near the edges of the screen early on, since it limits the directions trouble can come from. Resist chasing a tasty fish into a crowd you have not checked, because the ocean loves hiding a predator behind its prey. And remember that being small is temporary, so playing cautiously until you grow usually beats gambling for quick meals.
Big Shark suits anyone who enjoys simple arcade games with a satisfying sense of progression, and the steady parade of sea creatures gives it a light educational charm for younger players too. It is quick to start, easy to understand and surprisingly tense once the big silhouettes start drifting past.
