One small hero, eight levels of spikes and blades, and a trail of hotdogs leading to the exit. Deca vs Rooko is a cute 2D platformer that hides a genuinely tight challenge underneath its charming looks.
The controls follow platformer tradition. You move your character with the WASD keys or the arrow keys, and tapping W or the Up arrow twice performs a double jump, the move you will rely on constantly to clear wide hazards and reach food perched on high ground. Each level asks you to collect all the hotdogs scattered around the map while avoiding enemies, floor spikes, and giant swinging blades, then make it to the Exit door to unlock the next stage. Touching a hazard means starting over, so every jump needs to count.
Across the eight levels the difficulty climbs in a satisfying curve. The opening stages give you room to learn the jump arc and the double jump timing against forgiving layouts, but the later ones combine threats with real menace. Blades start swinging over the only safe landing spots, enemies patrol the exact ledges where hotdogs sit, and the exit door waits behind gauntlets that demand several precise moves in a row. Because every hotdog must be collected before you leave, you cannot simply sprint for the door; route planning becomes part of the challenge.
A handful of tips will carry you through the tougher stages. Study the blade patterns for a full cycle before you move, since they run on predictable timing and patience is usually safer than speed. Save your double jump for the descent whenever possible, because using it early leaves you helpless if the landing goes wrong. Clear the hotdogs in an order that ends near the exit, so you are not backtracking through hazards with nothing left to gain. And when an enemy guards a hotdog, bait it away first rather than jumping into its path.
This is a lovely pick for platformer fans who like their games cute but not soft. Short levels and instant retries make it easy to keep chasing that clean run.
