Most driving games ask you to keep one car on the road. Double Driver asks for two at once, and that single twist turns a straightforward dodging game into a genuine test of split attention.
You control a pair of cars running side by side on parallel lanes. Each car can shift between its lanes to dodge the obstacles rolling toward it, and both need to survive simultaneously. Scattered along the road are petrol cans, and collecting them is how you build your score, so the game constantly tempts you away from the safe line and toward risk. One collision with an obstacle ends the run, which means the moment either car clips something, everything stops.
The challenge scales naturally with speed. Early on, the obstacles arrive slowly enough that you can handle each car one at a time, but the pace builds and soon you are making two decisions in the same instant. Obstacles are arranged so that the safe path for the left car often conflicts with the safe path for the right, forcing you to process both halves of the screen at once. Petrol placement gets meaner too, sitting in gaps that demand precise, confident moves.
The best strategy is to divide your attention rather than split it. Keep your gaze fixed between the two cars so both stay in your peripheral vision, and move the cars only when necessary, since every lane change is a chance to misjudge. Develop a habit of glancing ahead to read the next pair of obstacles before you deal with the current ones. When petrol sits in a dangerous spot, skip it; a modest score that keeps growing beats an ambitious one that ends at the next barrier.
