Frog Byte
Description
Frog Byte is a quick little arcade game about a very hungry toad parked on a leaf in the middle of a swamp, snapping up every fly that buzzes past. The catch is that the swamp is also drifting with bombs, and one wrong bite ends the meal permanently.
Gameplay is pure one-touch simplicity. Flies fly across the screen and you tap, click, or press to make the toad's tongue lash out and grab them. Each fly you catch adds to your score, and the whole challenge lies in the timing: catch as many bugs as you can while leaving the bombs strictly alone. Snap at a bomb by mistake and it is game over on the spot.
The game starts at a relaxed pace that lets you settle into the rhythm of the toad's tongue, then gradually turns up the pressure. More flies streak across the swamp at once, the bombs mix in among them more deviously, and distinguishing a tasty target from a lethal one at speed becomes the real skill. Your score climbs as long as you survive, so every session is a chase to beat your own best.
The single most important habit is discipline. When a fly and a bomb cross paths, let the fly go, because a missed meal costs you nothing while a bitten bomb costs you everything. Aim for the flies that travel in clear space rather than the ones threading between bombs, and develop a feel for the tongue's reach so you are not lunging at targets at the very edge of the screen. As the pace rises, keep your taps deliberate rather than mashing, since panic-clicking is how bombs get eaten.
Frog Byte is perfect for players who love score-chasing arcade games with one-button controls, and it has the kind of instant restart that makes "one more try" dangerous for your afternoon. There is even a built-in excuse to rope in friends: beat your score and dare them to top it. It plays free in the browser on desktop and mobile alike.
