Huggy Shortcut Run
Description
Huggy Shortcut Run turns a simple foot race into a clever balancing act. You sprint down a winding track against rival runners, grabbing wooden boards scattered along the way. Those boards are your ticket to victory: spend them to build bridges across gaps and water, cutting straight lines through a course that was never meant to be run that way. The racers who shortcut smartest, not fastest, usually win.
Controls are as simple as they come. Your character runs forward automatically, and you steer left and right by dragging your finger or holding the mouse to guide them along the track. Picking up boards happens automatically when you run over them, so your real job is choosing a route: hoover up every plank in sight, or beeline for the next shortcut before an opponent beats you to it.
Here's the catch that gives the game its tension. Stacking boards makes you faster once you spend them on a bridge, but carrying a tall pile slows you down on normal ground. Hoarding too many turns you into a lumbering target, while carrying too few leaves you stuck at a gap watching rivals sail overhead. Learning how many boards each shortcut actually costs, and grabbing just enough, is the core skill.
Later races tighten the margins, with more aggressive opponents and trickier track layouts that punish greedy routes. A good habit is to shadow the leader early, collect along their line, then break away with a shortcut they can't afford to follow.
Anyone who likes quick arcade races with a light strategic twist will get hooked on this. Sessions are short, the risk-reward decisions come fast, and shaving a second off your line is oddly satisfying.
