Description

Meteorite Destroyer is a loving throwback to the arcade space shooters of the 1980s, rebuilt for the browser without losing an ounce of the original tension. The premise is gloriously simple: waves of asteroids and meteors are hurtling toward Earth, enemy ships are escorting them in, and your lone fighter is the only line of defense.

The setup behind the chaos is that asteroid belters have deliberately nudged these rocks onto a collision course with the planet, so every meteorite you shred is one less threat to the world below. You pilot your ship through the field, firing away with the fire button while dodging incoming rocks and hostile spacecraft. There is no finish line; the run continues until your ship is destroyed, and your score is the measure of how long you held out.

Survival is a balancing act between aggression and caution. Huge meteorites need concentrated fire to break apart, but every second you spend lining up a shot is a second you are not watching the smaller debris and enemy ships closing in from the edges. As the run goes on the field grows denser and faster, and the game steadily transforms from a comfortable shooting gallery into a genuine reflex test where one careless drift ends everything.

Veterans of this style of game know the golden rules, and they apply here in full. Keep your ship moving at all times, because a stationary target is a dead one. Clear the biggest rocks early before they drift into crowded parts of the screen, and never chase a single target so far that you lose track of what is behind you. Short, controlled bursts of fire while repositioning will outlive heroic stand-your-ground shooting every time.

Meteorite Destroyer is made for retro arcade fans, high-score hunters, and anyone who believes the best games are the ones you can learn in ten seconds and chase for years. How long can you survive? There is only one way to find out, and the high score table is waiting.
